Tessa was a music teacher in Derbyshire schools for many years and now gives private piano lessons in Belper to students of all ages.
Tessa offers playing music for pleasure as well as 'the exam route' via Associated Board practical and theory exams. Either way she aims to give a sound understanding of practical techniques, music theory and how to practise effectively so that real and rapid progress can be made.
Tessa says, "Learning to play the piano is a wonderful addition to a child's general education and I encourage parents to come along to the lessons so that they can better support their child's music practice at home. I enjoy teaching small children because of the enthusiasm they bring to their lessons and because skills learned young are learned for life.
"It is equally rewarding to teach adults who often bring a dedication to their studies because they are realising a long-held ambition.
Tessa adds, "I put great emphasis on making the lessons enjoyable music-making sessions right from the very beginning. I believe that anyone who wants to play the piano and puts in the time and effort can learn to play this wonderful instrument."
