Plans for a Community Garden are given a boost by Community Leadership Fund
This year Friends of Ambergate are focussing on a huge challenge and are raising money for a project that will leave a legacy to benefit the children and local community. The plan is to build a new community garden and learning space in the area in front of Ambergate School providing a space that can be used for meeting, learning, performing, playing, gardening and wildlife.
'Friends' have applied to WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd) for funding to, quite literally, get this project out of the ground and this request is being considerd over the next few weeks. Naomi Neighbour the Chair of the 'Friends of Ambergate' Committee says that so far they have managed to raise £1000, with a boost from Geoff Carlile who has managed to secure £1500 from the Derbyshire County Council Community Leadership Fund.
Naomi is looking for help from the people of Ambergate and surrounding area - so if you or your business is able to make a donation or get involved in any forthcoming fund raising activities it would be a great help as the costs are estimated at £20,000.
"Friends of Ambergate" is an organisation of parents who meet regularly to plan fund-raising events that bring the community together and any proceeds are used to help fund trips and equipment and experiences for the children of Ambergate School.
Any enquiries can be directed via Ambergate School or via their Facebook group.
