Museums at Night success!

Bookmark and Share

The torch-lit tour of the galleries and stores won hands-down as the best part of the Bedford Museum's first ever sleepover event held as part of the national Museums at Night weekend, 16 - 17 May.

Who was the mysterious lady in grey who appeared to guide the group and whose mummified hand lay near to the empty mummy case? Masks, birds, bones and dolls all looked scarily different by torchlight!

Great fun was also had by all exploring the treasures on display and making treasures to add to the exhibition. A late-night feast was followed by a few ghost stories to help everyone get to sleep among the Victorian room sets. The event was rounded off with a "yummy, scrummy breakfast" the next morning and a visit to the Treasures exhibition in Bedford Gallery.

"The event was a great success though we did have a request for a four poster bed and goose-down pillow for next time!" said Jo Roberts, Head of Learning and Access for Bedford Museum and the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery. "We are already planning what we will do for Museums at Night next year so watch out for further details!"
