NHS plus small business health Adviceline is taking off - helping SME's to retain an employee's services or assist them back to work sooner after a period of sickness absence.

Employers can call the Health for Work Adviceline on 0800 0778 844 or visit www.health4work.nhs.uk

97% of SME's who have used the service reported that they found it useful, according to a recent NHS plus report.

The recent report shows increasing numbers of SME's in South Bucks turning to the new Adviceline on 0800 0778 844 for help in tackling sickness absence and the impact it has on the workplace. Nationally, numbers have risen to over 1,000 businesses a month calling the Health for Work Adviceline and reports show that the numbers are steadily increasing across the UK.

With sickness absence costing the UK overall something in the region of £100 billion per year the Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS trust Occupational Health Adviser, Rose Goodman, had this to say,

"For small businesses, the effect of just one employee being absent can be huge in terms of productivity, recruitment costs and staff morale, but they often lack the resources that larger organisations have at their disposal to tackle employee ill health.

“That is why more and more employers are taking advantage of the Adviceline. They understand the business benefits of addressing employee health problems when they arise, and recognise that the Health for Work Adviceline will provide the professional, confidential information they need.
