Welcome to Andrew Sinclair - Sculptor

Andrew Sinclair is one of the UK’s most prolifically talented sculptors producing works of art that feature in both private and corporate collections.

Marionette's Conundrum is a dark and sensuous fantasy tale that showcases Andrew Sinclair's sculpture. Filmed by world-famous camera-man Paul Barton it offers a quirky, funny window into a fantastical world of sculpture magnificently enhanced through the evocative sound-track. This stunning cyberspace platform of his award winning work is typical of Andrew whose unique style and passion for sculpture is evident in all his work. This video takes you into another dimension where Andrew's sculptures come alive in a surreal and humorous take on the creation of sculpture.

Andrew Sinclair ARBS is one of the UK's rising stars in the field of figurative and surrealist sculpture. Although Andrew does not have a classical art training background his extraordinary skills in screen printing, clay modelling and as a bespoke cabinet maker mean he has the eye for detail that are attributable to his meteoric rise in the world of sculpture.

Andrew has an innate appreciation of creative briefs which coupled with his dedication to producing the final piece has seen a large number of highly acclaimed sculptures appear in country homes, the entrances of blue chip corporations, on cruise ships as well as urban spaces.

Throughout his career Andrew has been influenced by the great classical sculptors of the Renaissance. His career started with portrait sculpture and the technical aspect of capturing the likeness of his subject sculpturally continues to engross him. However, with Andrew the piece goes beyond the physical resemblance and extends to encapsulating the spirit which heightens the character of the sculpture within itself. You can see this in his sculpture of Sir Tim Rice who he quite rightly recognised as a modest man who would not appreciate a portrait sculpture of just him. So Andrew added references to other influences in Sir Tim's life such as the theatre productions and his love of cricket.

Figurative work is undoubtedly an all-consuming passion for Andrew. Inspired by the classical styling of Renaissance artists such as Bernini and Giambologna, Andrew developed his own approach to figurative realism. It has resulted pieces such as the bronze armoured figure and silver sconces commissioned by Christopher Moran as part of the restoration of Sir Thomas More's Crosby Hall in Chelsea; as well as the Royal Coat of Arms commissioned by Royal Ascot which was hung above the viewing suite for Queen Elizabeth II.

Andrew is undoubtedly gifted and his surrealist work comes from letting his imagination running riot on the bizarre fantasy aspect which has been around since man started sculpting and painting. The results are fantastical and allegorical sculptures, both humorous and dark which even if you don't love them will lead you to appreciate the immense talent Andrew has.

Andrew's rise as one of the UK's most creative figurative, portrait and surrealist sculptors of current times has seen commissions from a great many sources including:

  • Felix Dennis
  • Earl and Countess of Leicester
  • Oldham City Council
  • Christopher Moran
  • Lomar Shipping
  • Royal Ascot Race Course
  • Royal Caribbean

Andrew also has pieces of his work in both private and corporate collections throughout the UK, the US, Norway, Greece, Holland and South Africa; and he has exhibited in London and the Home Counties. Andrew has also been regularly featured in the eminent international publication Spectrum and been the subject of several radio interviews.
