After a break from some 8 months I went along to a
networking evening organised by BBWA. Arriving at
nearly 6pm, thinking I was a little bit early, I was
pleasantly surprised by the number of attendees already
present. I was personally greeted by Jo and Alice and
was asked if I knew someone or I would like to be
introduced to someone.
The atmosphere was really relaxed and friendly and the
handmade cakes just delicious. I had some really amusing
and open conversations with people I had not met before.
It is really interesting to meet and talk to people who
are also 'in business'. I'm not sure how to describe
BBWA. For me it is about meeting businesses in a
sociable environment - meeting a broad mix of people who
are supportive and genuinely interested in business, up
for a laugh and want to talk just about everything and
also about their business!

BBWA and what it has meant to me and Robin Hood Ministries. I have been a member of the BBWA for almost one year now. During that time I have found the people to be very friendly and open to hear what you have to say about your business.

I just wanted to say that it was a great evening as usual and many thanks to you and the committee for all the hard work you put in. I have given up on most of the other type of networking events but BBWA is special.

When I went to my first BBWA networking event I was almost overwhelmed by the volume of nearly a hundred women chatting over a glass of wine! Was business really being done in that casual, non-alpha-male-dominated environment? Or was it more of a social thing? Actually, it's both. I never go to BBWA meetings intending to win new clients yet - to my astonishment - frequently do. There's something about the friendly, genuinely supportive environment there that's conducive to forging trusting personal relationships that, in turn, lead to trusting business ones. And hey, the wine's not bad, either.
