60 years of AWE Willis Museum

Kate Pyne, AWE Technical Historian, presents an illustrated talk entitled 60 years of AWE
There are currently 3 AWE locations.
Kate's talk begins with the start of the post-war atomic bomb project in June 1947 at Fort Halstead in Kent
She explains the way other sites became involved and a little of the reasons. Aldermaston officially opened for nuclear weapon purposes in 1950 and the story goes right through to the present.
