THE STORY SO FAR
Built at the height of Barrow's prominence as one of the leading towns of the Industrial revolution - the Duke of Edinburgh was undoubtedly its landmark hotel. Designed with genuine Victorian architectural flair, "The Duke" became symbolic with Barrow's wealth and success.
Dignitaries to the shipyards, celebrities, politicians, writers and aristocracy flocked to the Duke. Visitors including Charlie Chaplin, DH Lawrence and Cary Grant enjoyed the Duke's now legendary hospitality.
In the latter part of the last century and following the decline of manufacturing in the town the Hotel's fortunes slowly faded......
However, in 2006 C2 Investments bought the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel and set about the enormous task of reviving the building. The current investment on the building and interior stands at over £2 million and continues to rise. Now the only 4 star hotel in the town - The Duke is back!

The Duke of Edinburgh Hotel has a superb Bar & Grill with an diverse selection of cask beers, lagers, ciders, wines and spirits sourced from across the globe. Our range of eight cask beers, including four from our own brewery in Lancaster allows our guests to experience craft brewing at its best.
Our team of chefs (including our international award-winning Executive Chef) create simple but exceptional food in our Bar & Grill and sophisticated, fine dining cuisine for our intimate restaurant Bistro 1871.
The Consort Bar is a stylish, warm and welcoming ground floor public bar with open fires in the winter and a warm friendly atmosphere all year round. With a light refreshing bar menu and regular live music (see events) we offer a great venue for a night out or an relaxing drink with friends.

Our 30 en-suite bedrooms and suites are immaculately presented in a contemporary style - facilities include high speed internet access, flat screen digital televisions, designer bathrooms, tea/coffee making facilities and individual room temperature control.
