Well who would have thought it? 20 years on from our fantastic first FA trophy win against Leek Town – Barrow AFC did it again!

In 1990 Barrow were the strong favorites and expected to win, this time, as the massive underdogs we were destined to be defeated by the supposedly superior team at the top of the league and on the move.

Stevenage gave the impression that they had the cup in the bag, and were far too complacent before the game. Barrow, always the team for the big occasion looked every inch the professional side – in their smart suits as they walked onto the Wembley turf – followed by the  Stevenage side in their track suits!!

Even at the coin toss when our team presented their opponents with a souvenir of the match – they, in return had nothing to give – hardly a great first impression!

Perhaps as finalists and winners at Wembley for the past 3 out of 4 years Stevenage were just far too smug.

However, this was the FA Trophy Final at Wembley – the biggest stage and the biggest game most of these players were ever going to be part of and it was Barrow AFC who deservedly rose to the opportunity and won!

What a match, what a spectacle and thanks lads you gave everyone from Furness a day they will never forget – well done!
