During its 25 years of advising customers in Barnstaple, the firm has seen some horror stories of inappropriate advice (primarily product sales driven by commission) and having helped so many resolve problems, when the rules changed it felt it was imperative to offer this facility to the public to ensure it was able to keep helping people with problems.

Indeed, one of its latest cases was a Barnstaple man whose house was repossessed through a wholly inappropriate mortgage lending story, involving fraudulent miss-stating of income on application after application and other shocking failings on the part of the mortgage broker.  Whilst sadly most of the problem took place before mortgage brokers were regulated, the Company secured just under £10,000 compensation for the man after a battle through the Ombudsman.

The second reason for becoming regulated (and the costs it has to pay as a result) was because so many 'claims' chasing firms' exist and many of these leave much to be desired and fail to alert the complainant to the free services available for the consideration of claims, instead signing clients so they charge one-third, or more, of the compensation due.  Recently the MOJ has closed-down several firms and the list of failed claims management companies on the MOJ website is growing. The Company offers a professional advisory service.  It will not be encouraging clients to lodge claims which it believes lack integrity nor those where the client has lost capital just because of market movements as opposed to the inappropriate selling of products to them so that a claim could be simple opportunism.  Before anything else, if the claim appears a simple one, then the relevant Ombudsman will be recommended where its services are free of charge.  However often people want hand-holding and guidance beyond what the Ombudsman services offer and should a client want that assistance, then a fee-based service is available.  Our primary role will be to guide and assist people and advise them on the merits, or otherwise, of a claim for the inappropriate miss-selling of a financial product which has resulted in an inappropriate loss.

Recently the industry has seen big compensation payments for Loan/Credit Card Payment Protection Insurance (PPI), Key Data and Arch Cru investments.  However, miss-sold mortgages could well appear on the horizon as negative equity has begun to reappear, where the mortgage exceeds your home value.

The Company's professional reputation goes before it for this new service.  It welcomes enquiries from anyone who fears they may have been subject to miss-selling or wrong financial advice of any nature.  There is no charge for an initial consideration of your concerns and you are assured of a totally confidential discussion and an honest and professional review of your situation.
