Macmillan Financial Support
Macmillan provides grants to people experiencing financial difficulties as a result of their illness. Grants are given to people who need them for a wide range of reasons. in the past Macmillan Cancer Support has given grants to people to fund a new washing machine, pay for taxi fares to hospital or even to fund convalescent breats. In 2008 we provided £384,771 to 982 people across South Yorkshire. We run a Benefits Helpline to provide expert benefits advisers to offer help with things like applying for benefits, health costs, transport concessions and tax credits. Mobile Information Bus
Our new Macmillan Mobile Information Bus took to the roads of the region in 2008. The specialists on the bus can answer questions about cancer, including people with a cancer diagnosis, their friends and family and the 'worried well'. The bus also serves to signpost people, if required, to appropriate places for further help, including local services and self help and support groups.
All of the Macmillan services play a significant role in improving the lives of people with cancer. Macmillan relies on voluntary donations for 99% of its income - they need your help
