We travelled from Scotland to join friends celebrate a 'special' birthday in the private function room. The choice was incredible for a fixed price menu. The food was beautifully cooked, service first class and atmosphere just right. Would recommend Beatson House to anyone. Taffy and Yorkie

My husband and I completed a group of six wanting to have a special birthday dinner for a close friend of ours. Not much notice was given to Beatson House Restaurant, we were delighted when they were able to accomodate us at short notice.

We were greeted with a wonderful smile from Margaret who was our hostess for the evening. We were offered a pre-dinner drink then were escorted to our table shortly after. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and everyone without exception in the restaurant were smiling, jovial and looking like they were having a wonderful time. This set the night for us.

When the waiter came to take our order he was helpful and had no trouble explaining the menu to us. His manner put us at ease and his friendly manor impressed us all.

The entre arrived almost as we had finished our pre-dinner drinks and it was presented as well as you would find in any of the UK's leading restaurants. Everyone at the table enjoyed their entre without exception. The main course came after a five minute interville and wowed us all. We all felt like we were in a Michelin star restaurant. The desert was equally as well presented and tasty, leaving us with the feeling of wanting to eat there every night of the week.

Overall the dinning experience at Beatson House Restaurant was exceptional. Not only for the quality of food and the beautiful setting but value for money. You would be hard pressed to find better value and quality anywhere in the UK.

I took my other half for a meal last night and it was the perfect place for a romantic meal. And I'll be having a go at making that mint pea puree - I've always made my own minted peas but that was something else!

I had tomato and red pepper soup (I never like to outface myself with a start and spoil my main) and with the sun-dried tomato bread - gorgeous. I then had lamb for my main from the choice of specials which again was second to none... on a mint pea puree - hmmmm.

And if you go to Beatson House you have got to have the fondue - oh you so have got to have it! Strawberries, banana, meringue, marshmallows galore, a great end to a great meal.

A final mention has to go to the staff who couldn't do enough for us. I asked them to recommend for a bottle of red wine that was slightly spicey and ended up with a Chilean Merlot, my favourite!

If you haven't been before, treat yourself - you won't be disappointed.

I'm more than happy to recommend Beatson House to any of my family or friends. The food was absolutely divine, a real credit to the kitchen staff. Add to this the warm and friendly atmosphere that greets you makes this place the best restaurant in Barnsley

I would recommend Beatson House because the service is excellent, the atmosphere friendly and the food is excellent. A very professional restaurant and easy to access.

Never lets us down. Food is always exceptional and the service friendly and efficient. I recommend you try the trio of salmon starter, cod wrapped in parma ham with mint pea puree and whatever you do, donʼt miss the sticky toffee pudding!

What a great place this is - lots of cosy little rooms full of character and atmosphere, friendly efficient service, and great food and wine menus.

This really is a gem. I love the variety, and everything is cooked to perfection - and not over priced.

I enjoy eating at restaurants that have a good reputation, but this has to be my favourite. I have dined here on many occasions now, and although I always have high expectations - I never fail to be delighted.

Beatson House is a must to visit - the only downside I can see is that it may become too popular for me to get a table there!

This is one of my favourite restaurants. Set in the lovely village of Cawthorne, the dining rooms are comfortable and cosy. The staff are always polite and efficient and make you feel very welcome.
One of the most important things is the food of course! I have visited Beatson House on several occassions and I love the food. It is always difficult to make a choice. The quality and presentation is excellent and you are not overcharged. I can highly recommend a visit but would advise booking early if you want a table at the weekend.
