Salvation Army and Barnsley Rotary in Joint Project for Christmas

Wentworth Castle and Stainborough Park near Barnsley have been voted through to the finals of the National Lottery Awards 2011. Public voting for the winner will take place this Autumn. Local people need to get out and vote for these local projects.

For a number of years now, members of Barnsley Rotary Club have given their support to a visit of children from Belarus who, even now, are affected by the fall out from the Chernobyl disaster which happened before they were born.

The gardeners in the village of Cawthorne, Barnsley, are feverishly preparing themselves for the onslaught of visitors expected for their eighth biennial Open Gardens planned for Saturday and Sunday the 18th and 19th June.

Every day 822 people will hear the words you have cancer. As treatments improve, more and more people are living with cancer in their daily lives. This means they need more than medical help, they also need practical, emotional and financial support.

Woodhead Mountain Rescue, a group of local volunteers who give their time and expertise freely often helping to save lives. To continue their work, funds are always needed so Rockley Rotary Club of Barnsley are hosting a charity evening on 18th January.

The Salvation Army and Barnsley Rotary Club have joined together this December to raise funds in order to provide needy people in Barnsley with Hampers for Christmas.
