The Salvation Army and Barnsley Rotary Club have joined together this December to raise funds in order to provide needy people in Barnsley with Hampers for Christmas. Captains Julie and Vaughan Bovan of the Salvation army, attended the Barnsley Rotary meeting held on 9th December 2010 and presented a cheque to Rotary President Wendy Bell MBE which went a long way towards reaching the target set.

On 21st Barnsley the Salvation Army together with members of Barnsley Rotary Club got together at Ardsley House Hotel and made up Christmas gift bags which contained bread, chocolates, fruit, mince pies and other goodies.

In total, 30 hampers were made up, half were delivered to needy families from the Barnsley area and the rest went to homeless young men and women who were being helped back on their feet.

This is just one of many excellent causes that the Salvation Army organise all year round.
