An amazing group of youngsters enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities thanks to a generous donation from Skanska Balfour Beatty.

The 22 youngsters are the brothers and sisters of children supported by Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice. Staff and volunteers were joined by Andy Graham, Community Relations Manager from Skanska Balfour Beatty to wave goodbye to the lucky children at the start of their trip.

The children enjoyed a weekend of thrills, challenges and adventure at a PGL Adventure Holiday Centre. As part of their Charity of the Year partnership with Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, Balfour Beatty has donated £3,100 towards the cost of the Siblings Weekend trip.

Andy Graham said:

“The Skanska Balfour Beatty’s smart motorway team are delighted to continue to support Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice – enabling them to continue to make every previous moment count.”

Noah’s Ark aims to provide essential support not only to the unwell child of each family but also to the siblings whose anxiety, loneliness and confusion can be extremely overwhelming and sometimes overlooked.

When a family is caring for a sick child, a sibling’s life can be severely restricted and, through no fault of the parents, siblings can be overlooked.

Brothers and sisters can face significant challenges to their own psychological and physical wellbeing and this can result in loneliness and social isolation.

The Noah’s Ark Sibling Support Programme seeks to address some of these issues. This year 74 siblings have attended a wide range of activities and outings such as a trip to the London Transport Museum, the Natural History Museum, London Zoo, the cinema, Clown Town soft play centre and bowling.
