The Ashes
The Ashes are great - aren't they. I know its yet another sport that the Brits invented, gave to the world, and now they whip our ass(hes) - but what I like about it is that its played for a tiny little momentum with so much history behind it. A passing comment made over a hundred years by some journalist and it becomes the most competitive artefact in the most traditional of sports.
Who knows and who cares how much each player or team gets by winning the series - its just not relevant.
So, your thoughts on the Ashes? Do you still look forward to 5 days of slow cricket given that 20/20 has exploded on the scene since the last Ashes series on these soils?
Is time money? Can we afford to watch it? I know someone who used to take his annual leave to coincide with the Test Series (hmmm... obviously no friends or family to speak of) - not a great idea given the English weather...
