Like many parents I am ready to breathe a sigh of relief that that the summer holidays are nearing the end and the Autumn term will be getting into full swing over the next few weeks... next stop Christmas...oh no please dont mention the "C" word, there are already cards appearing in some of the local shops, of which I will be taking a wide berth, we haven’t even had our obligatory Indian summer yet!
So "How was your summer?" A question we will be asked and will ask ourselves of friends and colleagues when we meet again soon, mine was a little challenging at times and despite trying to manage them like a football team with support guidance and coaching, with 4 of them, I always had one, not wanting to co-operate fully, just as well I dont have a full 11! But we have reached the end still friends I am pleased to say once the battle to buy the school uniforms was out of the way!
We disappeared off camping in early August to the New Forest, had one miserable wet day, but on the whole it was dry sunny and bright and for a week a small corner of Andover decamped with horses, cows and donkeys for company, the children ( totalling 12 from 11 -16 years) loved every minute and had the freedom to come and go (with in reason!) returning for food frequently whilst enjoying some independence, the adults enjoyed it all with happy children and dogs!
In the last 2 weeks , we have dug a plot to grow our own veg, we are getting ready for the hen house and hens and looking forward to spring when we will enjoy the fruit of our labours - now I just need to find some cabbage plants any ideas?
