Dear Friend and/or business contact
I would like to ask for your help and I DON’T mean your money.
For the last two years I have been involved with a charity which has a fundamental impact on our community in Wessex. The Rainbow Centre is a charity, bringing the method of Conductive Education, developed at the Peto institute in Hungary to the whole of the Wessex Region. They give children with Cerebral Palsy, physical abilities they did not possess when they were born, they literally teach children to walk again.
As an ambassador of the centre I often tell the story of Summer, a little girl who arrived at the centre with no motor skills on one side of her body. Summer would move around by shuffling along on her good side, today through the fantastic work of the Rainbow Centre, Summer now runs to push the button to open the security doors to the centre before her mum. So what does this all mean to you? I am not asking you for money, I am asking for your energy.
Last year 74 of my friends, family and business contacts joined me on the Test Valley Walk raising nearly £10,000 for the Rainbow Centre. The challenge I have set this year is to get 500 people walking for the charity. I am looking for 100 people to walk each of the distances, so no matter how fit you are you can still participate. You can walk with the family, with your colleagues or join a group of other liked minded people for a walk down some of the most beautiful parts of Hampshire. This years walk takes place on Sunday 10th October.
You can choose one of the following distances 2.5 miles, 6 miles, 13 miles, 18 miles or 26 miles. If you would like to get involved please reply to this email with the word YES I will then compile a list and send out registration info and more details. It would be great if you could put together a team from your business to join you on the walk; several businesses took part last year helping to raise funds and had a great time together.
To find out more about the walk and to see pictures of last years event visit the Rotary Club web site at http://www.walkthetestway.co.uk/
If you have it in your heart to accept my challenge you will not only be a great friend to me but also become a friend of the centre and help them fulfil their dreams of helping more children throughout the whole of Wessex have a better quality of life.
Thank in advance
Richard
