Top tips for holiday photos

Now the kids have been set loose it's time for that all important summer holiday.

Here's two top tips for getting great holiday photos. First of all, set the image capture size on your camera to the maximum image quality. The way prices have dropped recently on memory cards it's no problem getting more cards. You'll be very disappointed when it comes time to print your treasured memories and the largest print you can get is a 2x3 inch! Remember you can always downsize the images at home for uploading and emailing but you won't be able to upsize them for printing.

Secondly if the sun is behind your subject (this only works for portraits by the way, unless you've got a really strong flash on your camera!) turn the flash on and zoom in until you're really tight on the subject. This helps to illuminate the face and prevent silhouettes. If you want to show the surroundings, move to the other side but not directly between the sun and your subject, unless you want squinty eyes!
