The Selborne Arms Testimonials

We visited the Selbourne Arms for lunch on Sunday 22 November; we did book ahead, and were glad we had. Three of us dining, a friendly welcome. We seemed to be seated in a child-free room, which suited us. Very friendly service despite lots of menu questions and indecision in choosing items. We shared a pint of prawns as a starter, always a winner, good aioli. Mains: Toulouse sausage and mash; pigeon and black pudding on bubble and squeak; bream with red pepper tarte tatin. Several bottles of mineral water; 2 glasses of wine; a shared plate of English cheese. £60 all-in. Very good value. The menu is extensive and imaginative, well-executed. Delicious, deep flavoured pigeon. good reviews from my family. Good cheese, and nicely served with nuts, not out-of-season grapes. I could have done with a moister bubble and squeak with more cabbage : the only downside.
We parked on the street outside but there is a large car park as well.
