If you’re interested in local military history and you like museums - visit the Aldershot Military Museum and step back in time.
The Aldershot Military Museum is operated by Hampshire County Council Museums Service in partnership with Rushmoor Borough Council and the Aldershot Military Historical Trust and provides a fascinating, educational and fun insight into the local history of Aldershot.
Rushmoor Local History Gallery
Hear the historic story of the people and businesses of Aldershot and Farnborough. Step inside a Victorian shop; see Potters drum makers, the construction of Farnborough Abbey, the pottery industry of Farnborough and Cove and much more.
The Montgomery Gallery
The Montgomery Gallery building once stood in the grounds of Field Marshal Montgomery’s home in Isington housing his war time caravans. The building was moved to the Aldershot Military Museum in 1995 and now exhibits historic field guns and vehicles.
The John Reed Gallery
Named after Brigadier John Reed, this gallery is located within an original barrack bungalow built in the North Camp in the 1890’s and will entertain and educate the whole family i.e. barrack displays of the 1890’s and 1950’s, a married quarter living room as well as puzzles, a tank ride and a telling off by a drill sergeant!
The Boyce Building
Recently added to the museum, the Boyce Building is a wooden barrack block that came from Queen Elizabeth Barracks, once the home of the Regimental Administration Offices for the camp. Explore the exhibition room, community case and activities room.
Collections
The Museum houses a large display of historic vehicles, uniforms, badges, medals, weapons; furniture etc and the museums volunteers host an active programme of restoration on the vehicles.
