The Rushmoor in Bloom exhibition opened on Monday 4 October and features photographs of some of the many residents of Aldershot and Farnborough who take part in the annual gardening competition organised by Rushmoor Borough Council. The free exhibition is open Monday to Friday from 10am until 9pm.
The exhibition by Julie Henry and Debbie Bragg includes portraits of the competitors and their gardens. The exhibition was originally shown at the Garden Museum in London earlier this year and the exhibition at the West End Centre is an opportunity for local people to enjoy the photographs.
Julie Henry said: “When we were visiting the gardeners at their homes, we were amazed by the creativity and resourcefulness of the designs and the enthusiasm of the residents - it was a pleasure to photograph them.”
All of the photographs were taken with a special tilt and shift lens to give a unique ‘birds eye’ feel to the photographs and emphasise the clever use of space.
Councillor Frank Rust, Chairman of the Rushmoor in Bloom Forum said: “We are really excited about the exhibition and it’s a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talents of our residents and the commitment that they have for their gardens and Rushmoor in Bloom.”
