Councillor Roland Dibbs, Cabinet Member for the Environment at Rushmoor Borough Council, said: 'This is an important chance for people to have their say in how Rushmoor should develop over the next 20 years and includes issues that will affect their families and future families, such as new housing, employment and protecting the local environment. '
The Rushmoor Borough Council consultation asks people about two key planning documents in the Rushmoor Plan - the Core Strategy and the Farnborough Airport Area Action Plan setting out some of the key challenges facing Aldershot and Farnborough over the next 20 years and how the Council thinks they could be tackled.
These issues include the need for more affordable homes; regenerating Aldershot and Farnborough town centres; protecting the borough’s heritage and natural environment from the impact of new development and tackling climate change.
At this point, the Council is asking residents, businesses and those with an interest in the borough, which options they would prefer or if they have any other suggestions that have not previously been considered.
Copies of both documents are available on the Council’s website, www.rushmoor.gov.uk, where people will be able to make comments and suggestions online or download a paper response form to complete and send back.
The Council is also organising displays and a series of ‘Meet the Planner’ sessions so people can learn more and discuss particular issues with its planning team. These will be at the Wellington Centre, Aldershot on the following dates, from 11am to 1pm:
Wellington Centre, Aldershot – Monday 25 January; Saturday 6 February; Thursday 11 February; Tuesday 23 February.
The consultation lasts six weeks, with a deadline for comments of Monday 1 March.
