Voluntary Action South West Surrey has secured funding from the Big Lottery Fund to provide a Volunteering Outreach Service covering Ash Parish. The purpose is to strengthen existing voluntary activity by recruiting more volunteers to local organisations. They will also work at promoting volunteering in the community and will help support local community groups and charities who are looking to develop volunteering within their organisations.

Although the idea for a Volunteer Centre in Ash is not new, and there was a volunteer bureau in Ash in the past, they have been asked to provide this brokerage service again as it is a proven and effective way to raise people’s awareness of the huge number of different volunteering opportunities available locally. With the current economic downturn our other Centres (in Guildford, Farnham, Cranleigh and Haslemere) are busier than ever as people see that volunteering can benefit them as well as their community. Volunteering is also a valuable way of keeping skills up to date for people who find themselves unemployed.

Visit Ash Library on Tuesdays, 10.00am-1.00pm

& Ash CAB on Wednesdays, 1.00pm-3.00pm

Please contact Caroline, the Volunteering Development Worker for Ash on 07798 747678 or email her at ashvc@vasws.org.uk. to check opening times are still current or for more information.
