Conservative MP, Gerald Howarth will remain as Aldershot's elected MP in an election that saw little change in his local constituency.
The announcement came at 4.20am this morning, and showed that the people of Aldershot and Farnborough hadn't take as much notice as feared over the 'Nick Clegg charm' and the criticism Mr Howarth suffered during the expenses scandal.
On the whole, the results followed similar voting lines to those seen in the last general election in 2005.
"I'm thrilled and honoured to be returned as the MP for Aldershot for the fourth time, and maintaining the Conservative tradition here," Mr Howarth stated.
Aldershot has never been anything but a Tory consitituency since it was created nearly a century ago.
However, even Mr Howarth had to admit that the result had not been a foregone conclusion.
Yet despite the hype, Liberal Democrat candidate, Adrian Collett was unable to bridge the 5000 vote gap between himself and the eventual winner.
