Short Boat Trips from Abingdon

Salter’s Steamers have been operating as a family business for 155 years in Oxfordshire, running their traditional Thames passenger boats through some of the most famous and beautiful river stretches of England. Originally a firm of boat builders set up in 1858, the passenger service was started in 1888, with the initial service being a weekly journey between Oxford and Kingston. This quickly grew over the next century into the much loved business it is today.

All their boats give excellent views, have toilet facilities, a bar serving hot and cold drinks and alcohol as well as snacks. All have manual wheelchair access, but you do need to check that the various landing stages along the route do so too.

As well as scheduled services (see here), Salters also run shorter round trips from the Abingdon Bridge Marine:

Abingdon short boat trip times:

40 minute return trips to Culham Lock daily (in season). Check for times with head office 01865 243421

Adult £7.00, Child £3.50, Under 3’s free.

NB Always check that your chosen trip is running, as weather can affect the scheduling.

I love Abingdon and am passionate about promoting the businesses and events that are centred there. I want everyone to realise how great they are and how we should all be using them!
