Demolition Date for Didcot Power Station Cooling Towers
24th June 2014

It was announced today that this will take place early on the morning of Sunday 27th July. The controlled explosion will take less than a minute to bring down 3 of the iconic cooling towers. Other parts of the station have already been removed.

Love them or loathe them, this will bring a significant change to the landscape of this part of Oxfordshire.  A call to have them listed by English heritage failed, despite Henry Moore being believed to have taken part in the design. They are being demolished to comply with the EU directive on carbon emissions

All demolition will be finished by the end of 2016 according to RWE npower, the owners of the site. Demolition will be carried out by Coleman and Company.
