Abingdon is a fantastic place to live because it has the unique concert arena in the historic Abbey Buildings. The Unicorn theatre puts on the best of Folk and Folk roots music.

The Unicorn Theatre in Abingdon offered a majestic setting for Show of Hands' second gig as part of their County Towns Tour. The 89-seater theatre was built in 1952 in a reproduction of Elizabethan style. Before this, it was known as the Checker Hall and was just a part of the semi- ruined buildings of Abingdon Abbey. The time and energy put into this place is clear and today it is a wonderful and friendly venue, used for theatre and music events. The bar was well stocked with local ales and for those arriving later it was standing room only.
