Welcome to Sue Ryder Care

Sue Ryder Care hospice near Abingdon provides compassionate care for people with palliative, end of life and long-term needs. We are a national charity that delivers services within local communities.

Sue Ryder Care is a national charity providing health and social care services in local communities.

• 4 million hours of care each year
• 1.4 million home visits to people in need
• One of the largest providers of specialist palliative care in the UK
• Over 100,000 days of long-term residential care each year
• 6,000 volunteers support our work

We provide individualised, compassionate care services to people with end of life and long-term needs. We offer this in people's own homes, in the community and in our hospices and care centres. We also support families, friends and carers.

Through innovation and research we work to improve standards in long-term and end of life care. We have recently received government recognition for improving end of life care for people with long-term conditions and our research partnership with the University of Nottingham is extending skills and knowledge across the sector. We have piloted leading hospice at home services and holistic care management programmes for people with complex physical and psychological needs.

Our Nettlebed Hospice between Abingdon and Henley-on-Thames offers specialist palliative care to people with life-limiting illnesses from South Oxfordshire, Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire. The hospice provides an in-patient and out-patient unit, Day Care and community based services.

Sue Ryder Care takes a holistic approach to problems faced, whether physical, medical, social, spiritual or psychological. Expert doctors, nurses, complementary therapists, family support counsellors, physiotherapists and occupational therapists work together to support the different needs of each patient.
