The annual switching on of the Christmas lights in Abingdon will be carried out this year by Louisa Hannan from Radio Oxford. The Chamber of Commerce and the Town Council are organising this year's "Extravaganza" on Tuesday 30th November, with a theme of "Traditional Christmas".

The Parade will start at 6.45 from the junction of Stert St and Broad Street and will arrive at the Museum for the switch on in Market Place. Throughout the evening many shops will be offering mulled wine and mince pies and there will be a children's competition to find fairy photos around the town. There will also be street entertainers and children's rides in the Market Place.

At 8.15pm the evening will be rounded off with a fireworks display, best seen from the Market Place.
