Welcome to The Clytha Arms

Looking for a fine dining restaurant within easy reach of Abergavenny? Look no further than the family-run and multi-award-winning Clytha Arms.

It's been tipped for some 'wonderful' food, and much interest is focussed on the menu in the restaurant of The Clytha Arms near Abergavenny. Owner Andrew Canning and his team have created an exceptionally fine dining restaurant within their pub in the old Dower House alongside the river Usk.

Diners can choose to eat in the characterful main bar with rustic furnishings or in a more formal dining area. The restaurant menu offers welsh specialities, such as Bacon, laverbread and cockles, alongside other imaginative dishes such as Wild boar and duck cassoulet. A three-course menu with lots of choice is available at lunch and in the evening on weekdays and Saturdays (apart from Monday lunch), while good value two-and three- course Sunday lunches attract locals from the Abergavenny area and visitors alike.

Of course fine dining doesn't have to be a full meal and The Clytha Arms offers an extensive range of home-cooked bar meals, all of which come with a home-made bread roll. How about a Caerphilly and walnut stuffed aubergine with basil risotto, for example? That certainly sounds a cut above average bar food! There is also a tapas menu, with over twenty items available from welsh cheeses to herb-crusted sardines.

Wine lovers will appreciate the choice from over 100 bins, including an excellent white from the Monnow Valley Vineyard in Monmouth. And for those who prefer beer or cider, there's a well-stocked bar, including a choice of six real ales. Beer is very important at teh Clytha Arms - indeed, there's a Welsh Beer, Cheese and Music Festival held here every August, and a cider festival each May.

The Clytha Arms is an award-winning and thriving gastro-pub/restaurant. It has all the attractions of a traditional 'local' including table skittles and other games, but also really pays attention to providing a quality dining experience, with an emphasis on welsh and modern cuisine. Special diets such as gluten-free are catered for on request.

Eat alfresco on a summer's evening looking out on the lovely grounds, or take a comfortable seat inside. Whichever you choose you're assured of a warm welcome.

If you come from further than Abergavenny you might like to stay overnight in one of four individually designed rooms, one of which has a four poster bed. A full welsh breakfast is included, with vegetarian choices including laver bread rissoles and marmite fritters!
