Used the King of Prussia this week for the first time in many years on a trip back to Aber. from our home in Spain. Excellent food, choice and charming service. We will return.

Being a vegetarian I find it quite difficult to find good food when eating out as all the food is somewhat generic. Not eating fish normally limits the choice to one or two dishes. My partner and I recently ate at the King of Prussia and were amazed at the amount of dishes which were suitable for vegetarians. For starter I had a smoked mushroom dish, the flavour was incredible, I followed this up with a seasonal vegetable risotto which was absolutely delicious but unfortunately I couldn't finish it all as the portion sizes where massive. After a long break my partner and I managed a dessert and I am glad we did, the lovely waitress suggested the cheesecake, and the best we ever had. There were around 6 vegetarian choices to choose from; for once I found it hard to choose. For meat eaters the variance is staggering, from venison to scallops all made with fresh local ingredients and presented to a high standard. The meals were of good value, all I would warn was bring your appetite as the portions are massive. We would definitely go again.

Hi S.C.
We are pleased that you have enjoyed your visits to the King of Prussia. I only wish that we could have better weather that you could enjoy the garden more often

Always a friendly welcome and just enough company at this country pub. Itʼs busy at weekends without being overcrowded and itʼs chatty and popular even on quieter days. Lovely for sitting outside on a summerʼs evening, or a warm up indoors in winter.

Our wedding on 10th May 2008 was held at the King of Prussia. We had a fabulous day, the food was amazing and enjoyed by everyone. In the evening we a hot carvery to our guests which was a great success. It was a sparkling day which enabled us to make full use of the gardens. All the staff where very helpful and yet discrete. Booking the venue was extremely easy and every effort was made to comply with our wishes. Jeff and his staff helped to make our day perfect.

I took a party of 6 for a Sunday lunch and was mightily impressed. The service was fantastic, the food was very good indeed and I was pleasantly surprised at the bill.

Altogether, The King of Prussia has gone to the top of my list of places to eat in the Abergavenny area. Well done to Richard and the team!

Excellent food at a very friendly pub/restaurant. Not only is the food good, it is also good value for money: there is no hint of any off the shelf purchasing on these menus.
The food is not pretentious and the hungry will not be disappointed!

We had a superb meal at this family run restaurant last week and it was absolutely superb. The shoulder of lamb was amazing and excellent value for money. It makes a great change from the usual frozen pub chain rubbish. Very highly recommended!

The KoP is a lovely, friendly family-run place with absolutely sublime food. Young chef Richard has obviously inherited his fatherʼs talent. Weʼve been there quite a few times over the past year and have never had the slightest complaint about any aspect of our meals. Everything is cooked to perfection, and Richard makes sure that every vegetable is given a twist, so that there is a new taste sensation with each mouthful. Our very favourite place to eat - I cannot recommend it highly enough.

My husband and I spent a wonderful evening at the King of Prussia on Saturday evening at a surprise 50th birthday party. The function room, opening onto the gardens ensured a good atmosphere. The staff were very helpful and courteous and the food was superb.

What a fantastic atmosphere to enjoy a wonderfull meal, prepeared with local ingrediants, i always enjoy having a meal out, but the king of prussia is my favourite especially the shoulder of lamb. The chef is very friendly and always willing to have a chat although not very keen on lending me some recipes. Yee Haw fantastic country and western night also had a brilliant time, as always excellent food and a live band excellent night well worth the money, will be back soon for the 60ʼs and 70ʼs nite, just enough time to dust my flares off.
thank you very much

After some less successful incarnations, this rural pub now offers food worth waiting for. Mere words canʼt do justice to the shoulder of lamb and roast pork, both moist and flavoursome, with a pile of fresh and perfectly cooked vegetables. I have never yet managed to leave room for a dessert, but all around me people were clearly enjoying theirs – all plates were literally being licked clean. Great for Sunday lunch, and a friendly atmosphere.
