Only 18 months after opening in the old Drill Hall in Abergavenny, The Baker Street Cinema is putting Abergavenny on the map by hosting a film première!
The Welsh première of “Resistance”, the movie version of local boy Owen Sheers’ novel of the same name, is being held at the cinema on Monday evening, 21st November.
Those lucky people who have been able to secure tickets for this glittering event will be in the presence of the author, the director Amit Gupta, and some of the stars of the film. But that’s not all – HRH The Prince of Wales is going to be there too!
This is a bit of a coup for Abergavenny, for Baker Street Cinema owners Peter and Irene Davies and for the Abergavenny Museum, which is going to benefit financially from this special charity showing of the film.
Inspired by “Resistance”, Abergavenny Museum has mounted an exhibition which tells the story of Britain’s secret resistance movement during World War II. The exhibition runs until next February, so you’ve plenty of time to take a walk to the Museum and have a look round.
Situated in the picturesque surroundings of Abergavenny’s ruined Norman castle, it’s open from Monday to Saturday in the winter months and admission is free. Take a look at their website www.abergavennymuseum.co.uk for more information.
Meanwhile, look out for camera bulbs popping around town on Monday and see if you can spot any film stars. And fingers crossed that it stays dry for those stepping out along the Red Carpet in Baker Street in the evening!
