“Abergavenny is to Food as Cannes is to Film”. That’s what one of our national newspapers has said, and who are we to argue with such an accolade?!!

The programme for this year’s Food Festival is visible now at www.abergavennyfoodfestival.com  and tickets for all the weekend’s events are available to purchase online now.

The line-up of chef demonstrations looks stunning and for the first time there will be pop-up restaurants offering an amazing range of cuisines and impromptu venues.

You'll be able to sit down for a breakfast of Indian street food in the St Michael’s Centre or treat yourself to a Sunday roast lunch in a yurt!  Time to scour that programme and book early, I’d say...

But if your taste buds are tickled and you’re feeling too impatient for some good tastes to wait until September, there’s a Food Festival spin-off event next Wednesday evening, July 20th.

Gary Nugent from The Crown at Pantygelli - one of Abergavenny’s most popular country pubs - will be cooking unusual varieties of fish on the barbecue in the picturesque setting of the courtyard at the Tithe Barn in the town centre.

It’s a cross between a chef demonstration and a tutored tasting, with a select group of local producers on hand to supply you with some of their samples too.

You can book your tickets for any of the festival events through the Food Festival website today, or pop into town and buy them in person at the Borough Theatre box office.  Don't forget, many of the workshops and chef demos tend to sell out well in advance.

Food Festival events are a great opportunity to meet some of the people whose passion brings us such a wonderful  range of Monmouthshire food and drink. And at just £7 a head, the event on the 20th is a real bargain of an evening out!
