Like thebestofAbergavenny, the local Civic Society exists to promote all this is great about Abergavenny.
The Society aims to generate pride in the town, its environment and its residents. Amongst lots of new ideas, it has come up with the idea of a photography competition.
To take part, we are invited to submit images which show the good, the bad and the ugly of Abergavenny. There are categories for different age groups from age 5 upwards and all eligible entries are going to be displayed in the shops throughout the town.
So it’s time to go out with our cameras, take a walk around and see what we’d like to show off about our lovely town, and also what could be improved. It sounds like a really creative way to involve us locals in making the town an even more attractive place to visit.
And if you’re a visitor you can take part as well. Just make sure that your photograph is in high resolution with plenty of Dots Per Square Inch, so that it will print well at 10”x8”.
Entries can be submitted by e-mail until July 22 – contact abercivsoc@gmail.com for full details and get snapping. There will be prizes for the best, but getting your pictures up on public view is surely a prize in itself!
And let's hope it hastens the death knell for those local eyesores we love to hate......
