Well, it’s farewell to 2011 and welcome to a shiny New Year. Shortly we'll all be back at work and our other regular activities, after a period when even the most disciplined amongst us have sat around and indulged.  And why not?  You know what they say about all work and no play.

I’m not sure about the most popular of the New Year’s resolutions – those which are about dieting and such like are difficult to stick to in the dark days of January and February. Instead, how about thinking of one positive thing to do each week?  Here’s an idea –scroll through the A to Z of Abergavenny businesses on our website and look up the details of one that’s new to you.

Maybe you’d like to get on your bike but you don’t fancy doing it in the winter. Get inspired by looking at ThebestofAbergavenny page for M&D Cycles. http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/abergavenny/business-guide/feature/m-and-d-cycles/34131  I was walking past their shop at 36b Frogmore Street over Christmas and I see that they’re planning a relaunch in the New Year with new brands. Look for the two big friendly dogs in the window!

Just along the street from M&D in Frogmore Street is Jaybee Soft Furnishings. http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/abergavenny/business-guide/feature/jaybee-soft-furnishings/47232 They always have a beautiful window display. Go in and browse through their upstairs gallery of materials – you never know, maybe you’ll be inspired to make a couple of new cushion covers to brighten up your living room!

Well, Happy New Year to you all and keep checking on the ThebestofAbergavenny site for all the latest information about local businesses and events. See you in 2012!
