Without a doubt, Abergavenny is THE place to be this weekend, and it all starts tonight with the Fanfare Feast in the Market Hall. The fabulous new decorations will be up and illuminated. A team of volunteers at Arts Alive have made them from scratch over the past three weeks, fired by enthusiasm and lots of tea and cake.
So it’s bye-bye to last year's buzzing bees and hello to kitchen utensils, jugs and fish. I can’t wait, especially as one of the mackerel you’ll see up there is my very own creation. Well, the wonderful Bettina Reeves designed it, but it’s all stitched and stuffed by me.
The Feast is always a lovely occasion, and if you haven’t got a ticket I think there are still a few left. We’re promised delicious Zimbabwean food and dancing afterwards to the sounds of Little Rumba from the Welsh Marches.
The Festival gets into full swing on Saturday morning. On-line booking has now closed, so get down to the box-office at the Borough Theatre today if you still need to buy your 5-venue stroller tickets.
It’s well worth doing that today, so you get out early on Saturday morning to see – and taste! – everything. I recommend you take the kids to the Castle grounds, where I believe you’ll find the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, and lots more.
Take a look at the Festival website at www.abergavennyfoodfestival.com for all the latest news.
It’s such a great weekend for locals and visitors alike. I’m so excited...
