Spring-clearing time!
Has the beautiful weather we’ve been having encouraged you to have a spring clean? I find that sort of activity always ends with me having a massive clear out of cupboards, don't you? And, if it does, have you sorted things into piles for resale/charity shop/recycle?
If so, now’s the time to get down to the weekly Car Boot Sale at Govilon to sell on some of those treasures which you don’t want anymore. Drive through the village and you’ll see signs.
The sale is held every Thursday morning, weather permitting, so get there good and early. The same is true if you’re a buyer, of course. The early bird gets the worm, or in this case the best bargains. Take plenty of small change but leave your credit cards at home.
There are refreshments on site, but if you're out and about why not pop into town afterwards and enjoy some good coffee, cake and people-watching at one of Abergavenny’s many excellent cafés. You’ll get a warm welcome at For the Love of Cake on Frogmore Street, where a lot of loveliness is packed into a small space.
Voted the most loved business in town in 2010 by local people, it’s the perfect place to sit and relax, outside or in, after that early start. Maybe try their new coconut and lemon slice – it's yummy!
