Housing Associations and Trusts have played a very valuable part in providing housing and accommodation to meet a range of needs for people in Aberdeen and throughout the North East of Scotland.
Grampian Housing Association owns and manages a wide variety of housing throughout Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray. At present we have over 2,000 rented properties as well as over 400 shared ownership (part-rent, part-buy) properties. We also run the Open Market Shared Equity Pilot scheme aimed at helping first time buyers and others on low incomes to become home owners through the purchase of majority shares in properties on the open market.
Grampian Housing Association is committed to improving the levels of service delivery to all its customers. Increasingly we are involved in projects which complement our core housing management and property maintenance services including money advice, housing support and furniture packages.
Waiting List
In general, the demand for our housing usually outweighs the supply. This does not always apply to Shared Ownership applicants, the elderly, and those wishing to be housed outwith Aberdeen city. We are not, therefore, able to assist everyone who applies to us, and so we recommend that all relevant agencies, eg local Council housing departments and other housing associations are contacted by applicants.
Grampian Housing Association will accept applications from anyone over the age of 16 who is in housing need, as long as the type and size of accommodation provided by the Association is suitable for their needs.
Allocation of Properties
When a housing vacancy occurs, staff will select prospective tenants from the waiting list who will then be visited to confirm their housing need points. The accommodation is offered to the applicant in greatest housing need.
New sites
New housing sites are being developed through Devanha, a volume procurement initiative which is a partnership between several housing associations in the area. By working with other housing organisations in this way we are able to give better value for money and improve the quality of our new homes.
