Peace of mind when you need it most.
When someone close to you dies we appreciate that dealing with funeral arrangements and the practicalities of death can be an extremely difficult and testing experience.
At Argent Funeral Services in Guernsey our aim is to help lighten the load and guide you through the decisions and arrangements needed in order to prepare for your loved one's funeral.
Our job as funeral directors is to help you choose from the many and varied options that are available in the way of arrangements and then take total responsibility for organising and supplying all that is needed for the kind of funeral chosen. The funeral arrangements may be discussed in your own home, at the funeral director's premises, or anywhere that is convenient to you.
We will provide the following services as a minimum:
- initial recording of funeral instructions
- liaison with medical, registry and official staff, as appropriate.
- transfer of the deceased from the place of death to the funeral director's premises.
- provide a coffin
- preparation of the deceased for burial or cremation
- undertake all necessary funeral arrangements
- provide sufficient staff.
- provide transport of the deceased to a cemetery or Le Foulon Crematorium.
We also offer optional extra services including embalming, viewing of the deceased, publication of a death notice, a service or ceremony, flowers and mourners' vehicles.
Apart from the organisation of and preparations for the funeral service itself there are many other decisions and information we can help you with when someone close to you dies including:
- legal formalities
- funeral costs & sources of financial help
- choosing between burial and cremation and guiding you through the relevant procedures for each
- deciding what to do with cremated remains (ashes)
- registering a death
- wording for a death notice
- death certificates
We have also published and will make available a booklet entitled 'What to do when someone dies in Guernsey' which provides a brief guide to all the practical matters that need to be dealt with.
Should you need our services you can be assured that we will do our utmost to accommodate your specific requirements. We also work to a strict 'Code of Professional Practice' for funeral directors, which entails giving full information about funeral services, prices, a written estimate of charges and a detailed funeral account.
