Ophic Singers
This beautiful Formby Choir, made up of 20 singers from the Local Schools, requires small sponsorship from local business.
The Orphic Singers provide entertainment and joy to many local Formby people as well as travelling outside the area to give concerts in Liverpool, at the Metropolitan Cathedral in July 2005, and to the birthplace of Elgar in Worcestershire.
Founded in March 1987, by Mrs Ann Oakes, they have gone from strength to strength, with one singer, Rachel Russell, being the voice of Liverpool, Nicky Swift, a finalist in the BBC2 Music Theatre Final in Cardiff.
The Orphic Singers are looking for small scale sponsorship, in exchange for a mention in their programme notes. This will help with the cost of:
- Reproducing music and paying for copyright
- Pianist to accompany singers
- Transport
The Best of Formby is glad to be of help in promoting the Orphic Singers.
