Omar Sosa is a jazz/world music phenomenon, a piano sorcerer of breathtaking skill, dynamism and imagination. His music fuses his roots in Afro-Cuban folklore with jazz harmony and improvisations.
He’s a brilliant pianist, passionate and spontaneous, but always exploring. He can play straight ahead latin clave grooves one minute and be dabbling in funk-edged beats the next. He’s hip to contemporary sounds, but he loves creating mystery and mood. His band features Mozambican bassist/vocalist Childo Tomas and Senegalese percussionist-vocalist Mola Sylla. Sure to be one of the must-hear shows of 08.
