"A First Rate Blues-Rock band"
- The Scotsman
" We're gonna have a party, have a real good time"...
Stevey Hay & the RayVons are probably Scotland's hardest working blues band.
Making their debut at the Dundee Blues Bonanza in July 2005, the Edinburgh-based musicians have been bringing their music to venues all over central Scotand, Edinburgh and the Borders.
Virtuoso blues guitarist Stevey Hay has played music with bands as varied as notorious Edinburgh punks The Exploited, The Deaf Heights Cajun Aces, Texas Breakfast (with Blues Hyena Sandy Tweeddale), and Edinburgh's Blues Inc. He has toured as guitarist with legendary American blues harmonica player Charlie Musselwhite, and appeared with Robert Cray.
A guitar driven trio, the Edinburgh blues band customarily deliver a crowd-pleasing music mix of classic and modern blues and guitar pyrotechnics, from Stevie Ray Vaughan tributes to Stevey Hay's own wryly humorous material.
With a rocking rhythm section with a unique sense of swing and swagger, Stevey Hay and the RayVons are musicians of the highest calibre. More importantly, they are equally at home delivering their unique musical entertainment from the stages of theatres and arts centres, as rocking the bar of a neighbourhood venue. The band recently headlined the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival, among a flurry of festival appearances around Scotland.
