Norman Alderson has been a Funeral Director in Durham since 1980 when he joined the family business started by his Grandfather in 1921. By 1998 he had been elected as National President of The British Institute of Funeral Directors and now runs courses for those wishing to become Funeral Directors.
As members of The National Association of Funeral Directors, Professionalism has always been the key word in the ethos of the company. Many generations of Durham people have turned to the Alderson family to care for their loved ones.
Teamwork is very important for a Funeral Director and Norman is lucky to have a great team behind him. Chris Williams joined the business in 1996 and having gained his qualifications is now well known in the community. Tina Pickering has also joined and is studying for her Funeral diploma. Tina helps run a child bereavement group at University Hospital, Durham and has proved invaluable in caring for female clients and children.
As well as providing a highly professional funeral arrangement service the company also provides a Memorial Service with expert advice and colour brochure available.
Norman and Chris are able to offer advice and expertise in all aspects of the funeral profession including memorials and pre-paid funeral plans. The business has over 80 pre-payment funeral plans already in place with Golden Charter, one of the country's leading providers.
