THEATRE PRODUCTIONS - CORBY
WOMEN OF STEEL
LIFE IN CORBY 1934 - 2000
Women of Steel is an amateur theatre production depicting life in Corby, from the women's point of view, between 1934 and 2000.
The production was performed at East Carlton Park by local people and was filmed by Professional Video Productions of Corby. It is now available to buy on DVD.
It's both moving and humorous and gives a real feeling of what life was like, from the women's point of view, in Corby from the growth of the town, with start of the steel industry, to the fight to stop the closure of British Steel. The production also covers the promises of Wonderland and to the present day of a hopeful future for Corby.
Whilst it's not of Spielberg quality it is an invaluable account for anybody living in Corby. If you lived in Corby through these years I'm sure you'll find yourself nodding in agreement, laughing and possibly crying. If you've recently moved to Corby watch it and you'll have a greater understanding of why Corby is such a strong town and why the people are so generous and warm.
