On the border between Northumberland and County Durham, near Consett, this RYA accredited centre for Sailing Instruction is bounded by moorland and conifer plantations, ideal for walks or bike rides.
Members are welcome from all over the North East. Newcastle and Durham University Sailing Clubs are based at DRSC.
Sailing events
Top National dinghy and windsurfing competition events are held at DRSC near Consett throughout the year. Fast and furious, graceful or innovative the different craft with their colourful sails make this a perfect 'spectator sport' too.

Sailing Club Opening Times
Sailing and Sailing Instruction take place :
Saturdays 1200 - 1800
Sunday and Bank Holidays 1030 - 1800
Wednesdays 1300 - 1800/2100 depending on light
A sailing club safety/rescue boat is on the water at all times while sailing is in progress.
Sailing instruction
Sailing instruction 'one-to-one', or in groups, runs throughout the season with fortnightly sailing workshops for the children for fun and to boost their weekly progress.
Dinghy Racing
Fleet racing Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Handicap fleet racing is available on Saturday afternoons. See fleets link at www.drsc.co.uk
Windsurfing
All the kit is provided in the lessons. We advise about what boards/rigs/clothing is needed if you wish to progress.
Socialising
Friends and family of sailing members are welcome to join as non-sailing members and to share the regular social experiences in this beautiful setting.
Corporate events and Venue Hire
Venue Hire and Catering can be arranged with or without sailing/windsurfer taster sessions at one of the finest inland sailing facilities in the North East.
Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club near Consett is registered as a
