This was a special case. Our clients operate in a market where staff retention is notoriously difficult. We were tasked with establishing a company funded life and critical illness plan which would provide a high level of cover for what is a modest total monthly contribution. Darren and his three fellow directors approached us to review their corporate Key Person and Shareholder Protection. We have had considerable experience in these areas over the years. We examined the plans that their bankers had established and were shocked to find major defects in the trusts which would have cost the company a great deal of money had a director died or been incapacitated. We made a new recommendation after examining the whole market. Not only were we able to significantly increase the level of protection but we were able to save the company a great deal of money. Our tip is. Donʼt rely on a bank to offer you the best advice - always ask a broker or IFA.

Russellʼs case was a big challenge because the credit crunch had depressed the value of his main residence. We needed it to be valued above a certain figure. Our excellent contacts with his lenders allowed us to squeeze the case through even though its value was below the published guidelines. Only an experienced broker can do this.
