Bob Grundy has been appointed the Official Town Crier for Bury’s World Famous Market

Bury Markets gets its own Town Crier

Bob Grundy has been appointed the Official Town Crier for Bury’s World Famous Market with the benefit of support from His Worshipful the Mayor of Bury and from the award winning Markets Management Team.

Bob is a keen supporter of the Loyal Company of Town Criers Guild and has been learning French in his spare time to try to facilitate the Town’s Multi cultural events.  Bury Market is famous for miles around and Bob sees his role as supporting the increasing numbers of shopping events and activities that are undertaken on the market.

Bob can be found on the market on most Wednesdays during late spring and early summer and on the following Saturdays during the year 2008.  Saturday 15 March, Saturday 22 March, Saturday 9 August, Saturday 16 August, Saturday 23 August, Saturday 13 September, Saturday 27 September, Saturday 4 October, Saturday 11 October, Saturday 18 October, Saturday 25 October,  Saturday 6 December, Saturday 13 December, Saturday 20 December.  And - Saturday 10 January, Saturday 17 January, Saturday 24 January 2009.

Bob’s traditional outfit and regalia have been sourced from all over the UK and the traditional outfit incorporates the Bury’s World Famous Market Logo motif as well as the traditional red rose of Lancashire.
