What makes a good pub? Ken and Linda Hargreaves who are the recent new owners of The Woodman Inn at Burnley have their own ideas and believe they have found the pub they've always dreamed of running. Drop in and discover why.
The Woodman Inn Burnley was built in the Victorian era, sometime between 1865 and 1887. Still intact are the gleaming gas light fittings, etched glass panels, a bar of polished oak, spacious rooms and a warm friendly atmosphere. Add to that a variety of good beers, wines, spirits and in the best Victorian pub tradition, good food.
When they took over at The Woodman Inn Burnley Linda and Ken decided the old Victorian pub attractions were right for them, without losing sight of modern day expectations. Their first move was to bring back Anne, the popular chef who left six years ago.Since her return diners have been coming back in droves to enjoy her delicious dishes, listed below.
Linda who has wide experience of the licensed trade said: "We want The Woodman Inn Burnley to be a happy friendly establishment where you can get a light snack or a lovely meal. We want to attract couples and families as well as young people where they can enjoy good food, a selection of beers and good wines.
At The Woodman Inn Burnley there's a large pool room, a darts room, lounge, a beer garden, that big Victorian bar, and 'The Golfer's Rest'. This is a popular private area which can accommodate about twenty people. There's no charge for using
the room, already popular with a local writer's club.
Also at the Woodman Inn, Wedding Receptions, Birthday and Christening Parties, Conferences etc. can be held in a large private room, with catering provided if required.

Tuesday - Friday 12 noon till 2.30 pm
Full meals also served 12 noon - 7 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
These are all roast dinners on Sundays with a choice of meat, lamb, roast beef with roast potatoes and all the trimmings. Order two meals for just £10.00
Anne's daily selection - cottage pie, corned hash or chile con carne.

At The Woodman Inn Burnley, noted locally for its neo-classical Roman pillars at the two pub entrances is part of the Admiral Taverns Group. There is a wide choice of beers including cask and guest beers.
Always available is:
Carling Cold, Carling, Kronenberg, Fosters, Stella, Strongbow Cider, Worthington, Tetley and John Smiths Smooth.
There's also a full selection of spirits and good quality red and white wines.
Ken, an accountant, and local historian who has lived all his life in Burnley said: "This is the only pub in Burnley which is covered by a preservation order. We're a new broom sweeping clean but holding on to everything that was good including the Victorian decor and atmosphere from the past. All the customers who like what we have to offer can be sure of a warm welcome and a happy and friendly time at The Woodman Inn."
