A couple of weeks ago I had an email from a local resident who is fed up with noisy firework displays which upset his pet dog. I know how he feels - my dog suffers enormously on New Year's Eve and Bonfire Night but at least that is something you can plan for. What annoys me is the random setting off of fireworks for personal celebrations. Don't get me wrong, I love a good firework display as much as the next person but do they have to be so noisy? The current fashion for fireworks seems to be the
louder the better - does frightening children and pets add to the enjoyment I wonder?
I am not a kill joy but I would personally like to see some controls imposed on the noise level of certain fireworks. Do you agree and is there a suitable compromise which would keep everyone happy?
