Y Bont

Y Bont is a charitable organisation which provides care for babies and children with disabilities.

We have been supporting local children with disabilities and their families throughout the Bridgend area since 1997.

Volunteers and donations are essential in helping us maintain the quality of care we provide.

Y Bont is a local independent charitable organisation  which was established in 1993 by a small group of families who realised that there was a gap in the level of care available to babies and young children with disabilities in the Bridgend area. As a charity, we rely on public fundraising and donations to fund our work.

Y Bont provides care and support to over 60 families each year through our nursery in the centre of Bridgend and a number of satellite support centres throughout the County Borough of Bridgend.

Children with disabilities who receive day care at our nursery in the centre of Bridgend, benefit from:

• A fully equipped playroom staffed by a team of qualified nursery nurses.
• A special sensory light room,
• An electronic sensory garden,
• A safe outdoor play area,
• A specialist toy library
• Regular sessions with physio and speech therapists and regular visits from a local paediatrician.

Families of children at Y-Bont can rely on:

• Subsidised childcare,
• Support and respite care for carers,
• A fully equipped family room,
• Counselling and advice,
• Parent to parent befriending,
• Assess to internet and information from health care professionals,

As a charitable organisation we need your help.

The quality of care we provide costs more than £160, 000 a year to maintain and this money has to be raised through charitable donations and fundraising. We are constantly trying to expand our network of volunteers who are willing to spend a few hours each week helping us care for local children with disabilities through a range of activities such as:

• helping in the playroom
• transport,
• assisting with general admin
• fund raising.

The support we provide to children and their parents can only be maintained through charitable donations.  If you would like to help us raise the money we need to survive you can do so in any of the following ways:

• Make a donation
• Organise a charity event such as a sponsored swim, walk or slim,
• Nominate us as your work or school charity.

We are also supported by charitable gifts of equipment from local businesses and individuals.
